Early Intervention Services

Rainbow Centre’s Early Intervention (EI) Services journey with children from birth to six years old and their families by providing support required for them to grow, learn and achieve their developmental milestones.

Our EI services consist of the EI@Home, EI@Centre, and EI@Preschool programmes which focus on providing therapy and structured intervention within a child’s natural environment to build sustainable outcomes for future success.

We adopt a family-centred, transdisciplinary team approach involving early interventionists, therapists, psychologists and social workers who collaborate with each family to support their child.

01 Learning, Growing, and Thriving

Mohammad Afiq Zidan, 5, from RC Early Intervention @ Margaret Drive, is an affectionate, fun-loving boy who enjoys playing with adults and being around his peers. He benefited from support in speech and language to help those around him better understand his wants and needs, as well as support his emotional regulation

Following changes at home, Afiq’s attendance became inconsistent, affecting his behaviour, emotional regulation and participation in learning. Working closely as a transdisciplinary team, staff supported his parents in arranging school bus transport and navigating changes at home, while also introducing consistent structured teaching and visual communication strategies

With consistent early intervention, Afiq is able to participate in group activities and independent tabletop tasks. He has also grown in confidence, volunteering to speak in front of the class, taking turns and supporting his peers. His progress has broadened his transition options from SPED schools offering a customised curriculum to those offering the national curriculum.

02 Supporting Adam to Shine in the Classroom

When Adam Rizqi, 6, joined RC Early Intervention @ Margaret Drive, he had some challenges in literacy, language and learning that affected his participation in classroom activities. His teachers at My First Skool at Blk 106 Henderson Crescent were keen to support him and worked closely with RC to find ways to help him participate more meaningfully alongside his peers

Through the DS-Plus programme, regular co-planning and co-teaching sessions allowed both educators to adapt classroom activities using visual supports, differentiated instruction and multi-modal learning approaches. These strategies were woven naturally into everyday lessons, helping Adam learn within the classroom alongside his friends

Today, Adam is participating more confidently in group activities, taking a more active role in daily routines, and showing encouraging progress in his literacy and language skills.
